Shockingly, only approximately 22% of the United States population regularly meets the recommended level of daily physical activity. With obesity on the rise, more and more people are turning to sports to stay active and maintain a healthy weight in a fun and competitive way. If you are looking to take your level of fitness or your level of competition to the next degree within your sport, this article aims to outline four different ways that you can increase your fitness capabilities and excel in your sport and fitness goals.
Develop a Training Plan
The intensity of your training plan will entirely depend on your personal goals and what you hope to achieve during your training time. Perhaps you would like to incorporate a diet into your training plan as well. To get you started, many workout regimens can be found online that already incorporate different aspects into one training plan. If your goal is an overall increase in physical and mental acuity, you might want to look into what is the 75 Hard program. 75 Hard became a viral challenge almost overnight that consists of five tasks to be completed daily for 75 consecutive days. These tasks are centered around intentional nutrition, improved personal fitness, and mental development to enhance the overall mental and physical fitness of the individual. Since this plan is very strict and leaves no room for rest days or cheat days, you may wish to pull inspiration from this regiment, but create new rules for yourself that make your training plan centered around whatever goals you wish to accomplish for yourself.
Consistency
As with most physically demanding activities, improvement hinges on consistency. Every day should contain an activity that pushes you toward your goals in some way. Some days, that may mean that you are taking an intentional rest day so that your muscles may be stronger for the next day’s plan. Maybe that means alternating between endurance-focused workouts and speed-focused workouts. Maybe it means incorporating a day in the gym to focus on strength in between outdoor training events. Regardless of how it looks for you, you must stay consistent with your training plan and maintain motivation to improve.
