The Fashion Awards was out in full force on Monday night. Effectively the UK’s answer to the Met Gala, the event is an opportunity for the British Fashion Council to host its annual fundraiser while celebrating all things fash-hun. The evening showcases the creatives, designers, artists, tastemakers and businesses who have made outstanding contributions to the world of fashion. And, ticket sales go toward supporting the work The BFC Foundation does in nurturing future talent with grants and mentorships.
Taking place at The Royal Albert Hall, guests are expected to turn up, experiment and make a splash. Speaking of which, one of the biggest trends of the night was the mermaidcore aesthetic, which saw celebs rocking wet-look hair, mermaid waves, sparkling eyeshadow, dewy skin and ocean shades. Rita Ora even wore gills on her face (no, really and we’re actually kind of obsessed).
Gen-Z lilac had a major moment with guests including Simone Ashley, Olivia Dean and Jessica Wang all wearing the tone head-to-toe (as well as swept over their eyelids). OTT lashes made a statement with singer Raye and model Kristen McMenamy opting for XXL feather lashes and ’90s nods – from the Pammy updo to the spikey bun – were scattered throughout the beauty looks.
