Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota is partnering with the National Fitness Campaign to build 10 free outdoor fitness courts across the state.
The Eagan-based health insurer has announced over $1 million in funding for the initiative. Organizations that own public spaces will be able to apply for the program through Feb. 1, 2023 and be notified of their approval by March 1.
San Francisco-based National Fitness Campaign has been involved with opening over 400 outdoor fitness courts in 42 states since 2017. The courts include a variety of steps, platforms, pull-up bars and other features for simple bodyweight exercises.
